We have just enjoyed a few days on the lower reaches of the River Soar in Leicestershire. It's a great time of year to see the wonderful wildlife on this stretch and for us to explore new territory.

Hitching a ride !!! |
Having entered the River Soar at Trent Lock Junction we had a steady 2 hours cruise, mooring on the stretch above the Kegworth Deep lock. Take care with this lock.
This is a wonderful spot if you enjoy plane spotting as you are under the incoming flight path to East Midlands Airport - such a variety of aircraft and pilots to wave to!.

Nugget |
Just a short 30mins walk from here takes you to the village of Kegworth, or in the opposite direction to Sutton Bonnington. We enjoyed lunch at the 'Kings Arms' in Sutton Bonnington - a lovely welcoming pub, great food and dog friendly too.

Loughborough Basin |
The next day we called at Loughborough Basin in the town centre for shopping and CRT facilities.

Lovely wooden carved sofa |
There are some delightful properties along the banks of the Soar , we couldn't help admire this lovely sofa carved from a tree trunk 😊
The photos below show some of the wonderful nature and new beginnings we have seen over the week - so cute we couldn't resist sharing them 😁😁😁
